Demolition, Digging, & Cement

This past week I got to work with a team from Las Vegas. Together we got to help further the vision of the local church (where education is a top priority). They want to build more dorms and create a high school so the students who just finished at the middle school can continue their education. We got to do demolition of some old shower houses, dig trenches for the foundation of the dorms, and shovel sand & gravel and break rocks for making cement.

Prayer.

-----
Prayer
  • for me. I am tired. My body is tired. My mind is tired.
  • for my host family. They are returning to the states tomorrow to be with a sick family member. May they have peace in this sad time since they will be returning home under difficult circumstances.
  • for the team here. May everything run smoothly and to God's glory during their absence.
Love you.

I love lightning.

Enough said.

English Camp

This past week I had the privilege to work with these beautiful people running and teaching an English Camp for 100 local teenagers.
We taught english.
We sang and danced together.
We played basketball, baseball, & American football.
We decorated prayer journals, made picture frames & tie-dyed shirts.
We became friends.
My class and co-teacher.
Neighborhood kids have the best smiles.
Even though the week did not turn out exactly how everyone expected, God's blessing was present.

Here are just a few of the many blessings I witnessed:
  • None of us know very much french, but that never seemed to be a problem.
  • It was awesome to get to witness the unity within the team; many of us come from different states, towns, or churches and our ages cover a range of generations.
  • About 26 students came to know Jesus during the week and the students were constantly asking if we could sing the worship songs again and again.

Cleaning, Building, Painting, Moving.

Over the past few days, I have moved into a house with two other women; cut, built and applied varnish to benches being made for a church; cleaned out, inventoried, and swept a magazin filled with tools and team supplies; and dug up and leveled a road to create a path (for water) so when it rains, the house won't flood.

Here's a few pictures:
